10 things to do in Dubai

Dubai – the city of Gold that has a heart of Gold too! To define Dubai is difficult – and that is an understatement. Home to the tallest building, tallest hotel, biggest shopping mall in the world, longest graffiti scroll, largest firework display, largest sticky note mosaic, first indoor mountain resort and much much more…phew!

In short, everything the world does today; Dubai will do it in a much better, grander, and magnificent manner tomorrow. So if you happen to be in Dubai and are thinking what to do, here is a guideline of ten things that you can do. Keep in mind, though, that no list can do justice to the amount of things you can do here in Dubai.

However, here are ten things you SHOULD NOT miss!

1.     Miracle Garden

You will need to see it to believe it. An oasis of peace and creativity, a sight for tired eyes, and beauty that is difficult to capture in words. Covering an area of over 780,000 square foot, the Miracle Garden has a lovely collection of over 45 million flowers and that number continues to rise. The Miracle Garden has also been the winner of the reputed Moselle Award for the category of New Garden Experience of the Year in 2015. A first of many awards, we are sure!

2.     Ski Dubai

Go down the snow in this land of desert. Ski Dubai is a wonderful addition in the list of things that you MUST definitely try out in Dubai.

3.     Dubai Fountains

6600 lights. 25 colored projectors. Those are the numbers that illuminate the Dubai Fountain which happens to be the largest choreographed fountain system in the world. Yes, you can watch it on YouTube but watching it up close is an absolutely surreal experience.

4.     Sky Dive Dubai

Say hello to your hidden adrenaline junkie as you jump out of a plane and gets a birds eyes view of this beautiful city.

5.     Sheikh Muhammad Centre for Cultural Understanding

There is a big misconception that Dubai is just all about glitz and glamour without any culture. Truth is, there are a whole lot of cultural events and cultural exchanges that take place on a daily basis. It’s a great place to have coffee and lunch with a local guide who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about explaining the customs and traditions of the United Arab Emirates.

6.     Bur Dubai Abra Dock

Talking about culture and traditions, it would be lovely to travel on an abra (sort of a water taxi), to soak in the sun and wonderful sights around you. Dubai is focusing a lot on providing alternative and convenient modes of transport to the public like taxis, buses, the metro and now there are also trams – but the abras will always add an elegant timeless touch to this city.

7.     Desert Safari

A trip to Dubai without a desert safari is incomplete. Ride the dunes, try sand skiing, eat delicious barbecued meat and dance with exotic belly dancers.

8.     Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

The perfect place for bird watching. Watch lovely Flamingoes along with a large number of migratory birds that have begun calling the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary as home. A lovely place to find calm and quiet and reconnect with nature.

9.     Burj Khalifa

We cannot have a top ten lists without the iconic Burj Khalifa on it. Get to see and capture the city like never before from the highest observation deck in the world.

10. Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo

A ten million liter tank that is located in a mall and home to over 33 thousand marine animals. Time for you to go on an adventure and find Nemo! Children will just love this place!

All said and done, it is time to head out and visit the places that make Dubai the awesome city that it is. Bon voyage!
